Q:

Comparison between scanf() and getchar() in stack overflow – why is that?

Here is the code snippet I am using. Using the scanf() function works perfectly fine but using getchar() seems to enter an infinite loop. Thanks in advance.
#include
int main() {
char i;
while (1) {
i = getchar();
if (i == ‘
‘ || i == ‘\0’) {
printf(“goodbye”);
exit(0);
}
else {
printf(“something”);
}
}
}

A:

getchar() reads a character but gets no input before, so the loop will be infinitely busy because no input is ever “seen”.
Depending on your input, you may never get to the next loop iteration so your loop is really infinite.
If you enter “something”, the loop will exit immediately because the “something” is a newline (i.e., a ‘
‘) and was interpreted by getchar() as the end of the

Chapter 1. 1. The Principles of Tourism It is the introductory chapter of Part II of the Principles of Tourism which places them in. This chapter gives a general description of tourism and the principles which govern its expansion, development. As a result of the large output of tourism, the general focus of the discussion will be the basic principles of tourism.

They were the inducements which brought people to travel ; such as the excitement, romance of travel, first-hand experience, carefree attitude, health, relaxation and refreshment from the hectic and rigid life of a contemporary city, and much more. The development of tourism and the principles of its growth were to become the main concern of the subsequent chapters.

The rapid development of the need for travel, which increased as every new means of communication and technology was put to service, served to make the rest of the world appear closer to the people who lived in what was then still considered the interior of the country. The various leisure activities, mass recreation projects, holidays and travel abroad enhanced the services of tourism.

Tourism had become an essential and basic industry in countries which lacked a developed industry of their own which could develop in line with the rapid growth of tourism. This dependence upon an industry which was developing at such a fast pace led to the development of a large number of services which were to further benefit the growth and development of tourism.

Economists and historians have devoted some of their efforts to the study and explanation of the causes which led to the development of tourism. With the constant increase in the output and availability of goods and services made possible by the development of the modern world, leisure time has increased in a great number of countries.

Moreover, with the advent of more efficient means of transport such as the airplane, speed boats and fast ships, the demand for service has been increased even further as the services of tourism also get more refined and sophisticated.

The importance of tourism as an economic activity which gives employment to a great number of people and depends on the commercial activity of a great number of countries cannot be denied. The different types of tourism create employment for different kinds of people.

This in turn brings about the development of other industries and services whose purpose is the development of the economy of the country.
