    What is the correct way to set custom image for UIImageView?

    My class is extended from UIImageView. I am using third party Library which gives me the source image as a string. It can be say I get the source image as: “”. I am setting this image to view by using various methods of UIImageView. But it is giving grey pattern instead of real image. While search online I found that we have to set the custom class for UIImageView and override the required methods:
    – (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect;

    Works perfectly for me. I get the real image but sometimes the images are not getting the correct source image. Due to size of image the image not show properly. So I am using below code to set the custom images:
    UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@”Image.png”];

    [imageView setImage:image];

    There are a couple of things that could be wrong. I would use an imageView property named “image” instead.
    You should make sure that the image is actually loading before the imageView shows the image. The reason is that UIKit calls drawRect: at some time after the view is added to its superview, and the imageView doesn’t necessarily have all the properties set that it will need.
    Definitely worth a try.
