I have had many friends who used to swear by a whole different image-manipulation tool. It’s called PhotoDirector from the company Kodak, and in the late 1990s, it was the standard for all digital photographers. I remember downloading it on a CD-ROM set, opening it up, and playing with all the cool editing features. It was a fun tool to have and easy to use. The problem was that it was designed for professional use and cost $150 a pop.
Kodak stopped selling PhotoDirector just as digital cameras started appearing in the marketplace. The company was unable to compete with the growing popularity of the little digital cameras. However, it did not sit back and abandon the market. Instead, Kodak decided to create a completely new image-manipulation tool called Photoshop Elements. (I refer to all versions of Photoshop Elements as Photoshop Elements. Confusing, but I’ll explain.)
Photoshop Elements was designed from the ground up to be a tool for both beginners and experts. In fact, the number one thing that separates Elements from Photoshop is that it was developed for non-professionals to use. As a result, it lacks some of the features found in more advanced image-manipulation tools. However, what it lacks in functionality, it more than makes up for in affordability.
It works in a similar manner to Photoshop, but it does not have all the same features and functionality that you can get with the full-featured version. It does support layers just like Photoshop and is relatively easy to use. However, as mentioned, it lacks some of the functionality found in more advanced image-manipulation software.
Photoshop Elements was designed for a completely different market than Photoshop. But that has not prevented the program from becoming extremely popular. It has become the standard image-editing tool for home and personal use.
Many folks are unaware of the existence of Photoshop Elements because it’s not marketed with the same ads and promotions as the more traditional full-featured Photoshop. North Korea has mocked America’s new missile, calling it a ‘Mickey Mouse toy’.
The State-run news agency KCNA reported that the country’s leader Kim Jong-Un watched the launch of a new intermediate-range ballistic missile on Sunday.
But the North calls the missile Pukguksong-2 which translates into ‘Mickey Mouse weapon’ and calls it ‘pure fantasy’.
