As expected, the new version of Lightroom comes with a number of new tools and features. However, the most intriguing part of the update is what happens with Lightroom’s already powerful features. The video and sampling tools have been refreshed, and the interface looks modern with fresh design and 3D options. I could not get used to the old-fashioned Toolbox. No, thanks! The new Library brings two-page layout, with search and flip-through options.
The new hierarchy structure in the Library, as well as the ability to organize albums, is welcome and may, in theory, make it easier to find the photographs that you are looking for. However, the free-flowing and beautiful design of the menus could use a little bit of tweaking and improvement. For example, the menus should be able to mimic the way the actual contents of the Library are laid out. I have found that browsing and opening tools are not limited to any of the menus.
The Preview panel in Lightroom is still my least favorite, as in previous versions. It is impossible to use the panel as a camera, and even the print grid tool is not really that good any longer. I would have to say that I would prefer to have fewer but more practical tools in Lightroom’s expanded Bridge panel. As before, it works seamlessly with the Creative Cloud application. The new version was launched with some good tools and features and a very slick interface. However, one of the newly added features, which I found out to be rather useful, is the ability to adjust the rotation of a photo in the Grid view. In the past, by using a regular screen rotation feature, you can rotate a photo for adjustment as needed, which means that you record the default view of the photo.
