DITA-OT applies a DITA 1.2 (and later) style mapping to a DITA XML document. The result of such processing is a transformed XML document. DITA-OT has two components:
1. Generation tool
2. Transformation tool
The DITA-OT generation tool creates the XSLT stylesheet from a DITA map. It takes as input a DITA 1.2 or later Map and creates a DITA XML style.
The result of the generation step is a DITA XML document that contains XSLT stylesheet. A XSLT stylesheet is a resource file that contains all of the information required to transform the DITA XML document into any other format, like XML format, PDF format, HTML format, RTF format, Spreadsheet format, etc..
The Transformation tool is a Java application that receives the DITA XML document as input and transforms the document using the stylesheet.
DITA-OT is based on Oxygen XML Editor. The Transformation tool is actually Oxygen XML Editor that has been modified to make it compatible with DITA-OT. DITA-OT contains all the same functionality of Oxygen XML Editor.
DITA-OT is written in Java and is developed as an Eclipse plugin.
There are two major components of DITA-OT,
1. Map transformation tool – creates XSLT Stylesheet from a DITA Map
2. DITA to other formats transformation tool – transforms a DITA XML document using a XSLT Stylesheet (the result will be in other formats like: XML, PDF, HTML, Spreadsheet, etc..)

dita-map-processor-0.7:Processing of DITA maps : It includes methods to manipulate and process DITA Topic Map. DITA maps can be processed using this module.

With the dita.xsl that I’m using, the mapping works well, but the fact that the transformation done on the.dita file is cached (you can see it on the dita.xsl) let me to do the following:
Extract mapped information from a single.dita file (from the cache) then modify it, then save it to a new.dita file.
Extract mapped information from a.dita file (from the cache) then delete the.dita file (and the.xsl file)
Save the.dita file with only one map (and a related.xml file) (From the cache)
It is a problem in my work because I’m quite accurate when do the creation of the.dita file.
It is not possible remove the cache file (the.xml file) or the.dita file because they are created by a template.
I see the problem on the server where I can modify the source code (I can modify the template) but the problem is that I can’t modify the.dita file because of the fact it’s cached.
Does anyone have an idea of how I can solve that problem without affect the quality of the created file (the.dita file)?

After some modification it seems that I have to change completely the module dita-map-processor. This module was written for only one and only reason: to speed up the creation of the map and not for other reasons. Because this module was not optimized for this case.
And changing completely the module will turn in to a complete rewrite of the module.

To speed up the process, you can create the map in memory (with the cache file on) and create the.dita file afterwards.
