Instructions
1. Run the “cPfPc.exe” application. A dialog with a list of PIX firewalls and a toolbar will appear.
2. Select the “I want cPfPc to show me PIX passwords from all the networked PIX firewalls” option and press the “Generate” button.
If the password have to be generated from configuration file, select the first option.
3. If none of the firewalls have been previously selected, the application will prompt you to select one of them.
4. Enter the password to be encrypted on the “Enter Password to Encrypt” field.
5. When you are done, press the “Enter” button.
6. A list of the PIX firewall passwords that you are able to access will appear.

I couldn’t get cPfPc to work with any of my devices, including the cisco firewall, so I decided to write it from scratch. The end result was an application in C# that reads the PIX password from an ini file and prints it in an encrypted form using CBC mode with the AES (AES-256) algorithm in CBC mode of operation. Disclaimer
The software that is able to decrypt passwords and to produce passwords in cleartext is not really safe to be used on a mission-critical device, where PIX firewalls have a key life span between 15 and 20 years.
It is actually safe to use the encrypted form of passwords to configure your PIX firewalls, since the configuration file is not directly readable using the standard Cisco IOS command line.
Only the data in the configuration files that can be rewritten at runtime (password, site authorization list, allow rules…) are sensitive to attacks.
cPfPc will work if you are using PIX firmware 6.0 or higher (that is, PIX 705), since the internal password manager was created only at that time.
