I’m using Python 2.7.3 and openpyxl 2.2.5.
I want to access to a cell of a worksheet with a given cell reference, like:
def get_value_from_cell_by_reference(reference, row, column):
sheet = workbook.get_sheet_by_name(reference)
return sheet.cell(row, column).value
But I get this error:
AttributeError: ‘openpyxl.worksheet.Worksheet’ object has no attribute ‘cell’
How can I get the name of the worksheet from a given cell reference?

sheet.cell(row, column).value is openpyxl’s way of finding the value in cell “row, column” (a couple of bytes from the current cell). What you need is cell_value, which is the cell’s value:
def get_value_from_cell_by_reference(reference, row, column):

return sheet.cell_value(row, column)
If you are not interested in the cell type, you can simplify further:
