Difference Between 2D and 3D

When you create a 2D drawing in AutoCAD, it is two dimensional – no attempt is made to establish a three-dimensional relationship between the lines and shapes of your drawing. 3D drawings are capable of expressing three dimensional objects, allowing the designer to see the construction of the 3D object.

The need for 3D drawings has grown considerably over the past two decades. A company or organization may have very specific geometric and dimensional information (such as the diameter of a pipe, angle of a corner, or distance between two walls) that would be very difficult to express in a 2D drawing. On the other hand, a 3D drawing is often used to show an object in a correct perspective or to show dimensions of the object from different angles.

Two-Dimensional vs. Three-Dimensional

When you create a drawing in AutoCAD, you have the option to use 2D or 3D objects. 2D drawings only show the outline of objects, whereas 3D drawings show the boundaries of objects from several angles.

When you first create a drawing in AutoCAD, you are presented with the choice of using 2D or 3D objects. Autodesk Autocad no longer works after Autodesk has released Revit. Revit 3.1 is supposed to be released for Windows PCs on April 12, 2012, but Revit 2012 was released much earlier.
On June 15, 2014, Autodesk announced they were discontinuing Autocad 2013.
The 3D-interactivity features are no longer available.
