This tutorial will show you how to create a basic and colorful image using Photoshop. It uses an image we have adapted from the original illustration. We will start by creating a colorful background for our image, then add a tree with a bird and a sandpiper flying in front of it. In the end, we will add a silhouette of a man holding a flag to make the image more interesting.

Layer Contents

Notice the textured background that we will need to create in a new layer. Then, let’s create the main layers of our image and transform them to create the illusion of depth in our scene.
In the top left corner of your document, you’ll see the text “Layer Contents.” Click on it and select “Layer 1,” then press Ctrl+Alt+U (Windows) or Command+Option+U (Mac OS X) to Unite the layers. Then select “Create New Fill Layer” from the Layers palette. You’ll now have two layers:
Layer 1: Background
Layer 2: The Bird and Sandpiper
Layer 3: Train Window
Let’s start with the background.
Create a new layer. Click “Layer” from the Layers palette, then create a new gray-scale image. We’ve set the document color to black, so our new layer will be white. Set the layer’s blending mode to “Soft Light,” and lower the layer’s Opacity to around 30%.
Add a few bright colors that contrast the already bright background.

How to use Photoshop with this tutorial
1. Remove unwanted elements from an image
The first image that you’ll open has a few unwanted elements in it. You’ll want to start off by removing them, so use the Brush tool to click and select them. The selections or ‘closings’ are shown as a red selection outline.
Use the Eraser tool to remove the outline from the photo. You can do this by selecting the Eraser tool from the toolbar, holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on the parts of the image that need removing.
2. Change the Opacity, Hue, Saturation and Brightness of an image
There are several ways to change the opacity and brightness of an image. We’ll use the eyedropper to set the opacity at the start, and then use the HSL/HSL histogram.
Open the image in Photoshop. Then choose View > Brightness/Contrast. The right-hand image is the Brightness/Contrast adjustment:
You’ll see a small white box pop-up on the Brightness/Contrast dialog box. Drag it to change the brightness of the image. You can also do this by clicking the eyedropper tool with the brightness of the image on your screen.
From now on, you’ll use the eyedropper tool to adjust the brightness of images. You can use the eyedropper tool in the same way for a Hue adjustment, as well.
3. Add a new layer
One of the most common things you’ll do in Photoshop is to add a new layer. To do this, select Layer > New > Layer. The New Layer dialog box will appear.

Today my customer ran across a bit of a problem with our database where DateTime fields in all cases had the wrong type (Int instead of DateTime). I was able to locate all the records (thousands) that were affected and fix them manually. But I was wondering if there was a way for this to always happen using a default attribute instead of being forced to look every single record up one by one to fix it.
The reason for this is because we are using a “pull” (I guess you can call it that) model for order data which would require having it live for a fairly long time (we plan on doing this from our server instead of our web interface). The general idea is that if someone is going to come back in a few years and want to view their orders, they can simply get the data out of the database.
Anyway, my question is: Is there a way to set a default DateTime attribute for DateTime fields when creating the table in SQL Server?

Yes, that is what default is for.
If you don’t want to use it it’s there, no need to remove it just don’t use it, it’s a very useful thing to have.

Using the okapi api, when I do a GET /users.json there is no where to specify that the output should be a list of all users.
