first time this notebook was released in january, 2012, it was hard to beat the acer aspire m3’s looks for the money. acer continues to make good-looking, svelte notebooks and the aspire m3 is a great option. the screen is 15.6 inches and it’s running at an ultra-thin 1.1-inch depth. it has a slim led-backlit lcd, with a 1366 x 768 resolution. it has a 1366 x 768 display that is full hd, which means it can display 1080p content.

it’s a very sleek and stylish notebook that is super-speedy and has a very sturdy keyboard. the screen is great, at 15.6-inches and it has a matte finish. it’s only 1.1-inches thick, and it’s very well-built. the battery life is good, but not great. it’s 2 lbs. lighter than the acer aspire s3, which has the same screen size. it does have a very good design.

while the price is a little high for what you get, the performance of the acer aspire m3 is good and the battery life is acceptable. if you’re looking for a lightweight windows 8.1 ultrabook, this is a decent choice.

the acer aspire m3 has a good battery life and is great for gaming. the keyboard is functional and usable and the trackpad is good. it is loud. it’s not a lot of fun to use, but it is a usable computer. it has a good design. the acer aspire m3 is a compact 14-inch notebook for $199.

the lascivious colored lights on the aspire m3’s lid are a charming look but the battery-life is actually pretty bad. i was consistently getting less than 6 hours out of a fully-charged battery, and while i didn’t find myself in the middle of a long battery-deprived slog on a long flight, the aspire m3 managed about 5 hours of use in between charges.
we’ve seen tiny, light-weight ultraportables with the right mix of solid components and a long battery life. the aspire m3 doesn’t deliver on those expectations. it feels cheap and fragile in the hand and just doesn’t feel like a solid contender. i’m sure most of that is due to the lack of a built-in optical drive, but acer’s decision to fit a dvd drive in the chassis simply doesn’t make sense, especially when you consider the incredible performance of blu-ray drives.
if you don’t mind having an extra power button on the front of the laptop, the aspire m3 is an affordable choice with a multitude of ports and decent performance. it doesn’t have a great keyboard, though, and the battery life isn’t particularly good.
if you’re a mac owner, you’ll probably be disappointed to hear that acer’s latest aspire m3 does not offer intel’s panthera os feature set. as a result, it does not have any major features such as built-in isight, facetime, airplay, airprint, and mobileme. i’m not sure if the aspire m3 will still be available with panthera os, but if you’re looking for a modern pc, you’ll want to know that before you buy.
overall, the acer aspire m3 ma50 is a solid and affordable ultra-portable that offers solid performance in a fairly compact chassis. if you’re just looking for a machine with a solid design, solid build quality and solid performance, you’ll love this laptop.
