Learn How to Create Images with Photoshop
Steps
1 – Open and load the image you want to open.
2 – Click on the Layer icon in the top left of the Photoshop window.
3 – Click on the Add Layer icon.
4 – Select the type of layer you want to add. Layers can also be called’modes’, such as: Background, Painting, Shading, and any other mode that Photoshop has to offer.
5 – Click OK.
6 – Optionally, you can rename the new layer (just click on the ‘Name’ option).
7 – Optionally, you can add any type of clipping mask (just click on the ‘Clipping’ option).
8 – Click on the Layer mask (top left corner of the Layer window).
9 – Make the black layer mask white.
10 – Add any type of layer mask to your layer.
11 – Zoom in to see more of your image.
12 – Make any changes you wish to the layer mask.
13 – Click OK.
14 – At this point, you can make any adjustments to the layer mask.
15 – Click OK.
16 – Save your new image.
17 – If you save the image as a new file, the image will have been saved as a Photoshop file. If you save the image as a jpg, png, or whatever file type you wish to use, it will have been saved as a Photoshop file.
18 – Experiment with Photoshop. See if you can make different and more interesting type of images.
19 – I wouldn’t suggest using the eraser tool too much, as it will remove anything under the mask and reduce the intensity of the content of the current layer below.
20 – Click on the ‘Edit’ tool found in the top right corner of the Photoshop window.
21 – If you are using a brush, you can click on ‘Brushes’ to choose a brush. If you want to paint over your image, the eraser will work.
22 – If you click on the ‘Eraser’, a ‘Round’ eraser will be displayed.

I just upgraded to 11.10 and now I can’t run any of my apps. For instance, my terminal gives me this:
Package not available, but already installed
If I try to open any installed app it says it can’t find the package.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?

First, restore the files for the app (they are usually located in /usr/share/applications). Then, either
Create a.desktop file for it and drag it into /usr/share/applications, or
Rename the.desktop file that is for the app and place it in ~/.local/share/applications
You can also launch the application from the command line to see what is wrong (type in the terminal the application path minus the.desktop file extension).
To have more information about the error, type the following in a terminal:
