REVERB is a high level reverb effect that simulates the way an actual stage or a hall sounds like. A simple start with a single reverb preset is enough to obtain a fairly convincing reverb but there are controls to make it sound even better and for fine-tuning the simulated effect.
Please note that the REVERB effect does not emulate the multiple reflections that occur in real rooms.
Warming and dimensioning of the Reverberation effects
In order to add warmth and dimension the sound, the settings listed below are available:
Echo depth – This determines the space in which the reflections are taking place.
Warming – This feature has two states, direct or full. The direct state increases the amount of low frequencies without adversely affecting the overall sound. The full state increases low frequencies and reduces high ones.
Wet – Each wet state is accompanied by an increase and decrease of the existing signal.
Room size/intensity – The larger the space or room, the more light is reflected. The larger the room the less noise will be heard.
Inlay – Inlay allows the playback of a pre-recorded reverb in the respective position.
Layers – Layers determines the number of reflections.
Reverb time – Reverb time is the amount of time for which the sound is heard when the same signal is heard two or more times. In a real hall the listener perceives the sound for a short time only, usually shorter than the time for the echo to come back.
Damping – The Damping factor reduces the strength of the reverb, like the space between the speaker and listener.

This is the first of a series of patches that explore a little of what we’re up to. Welcome to patch No. 1.
With that being said, this is a detailed tutorial on how to use the MIDI controller device as a simple MIDI effector. We start off by using the fine-tuned Roland SPDIF Controller as a simple MIDI effector that does a few things.
Before I begin, I would like to mention that this project is mostly an experiment. I am mainly interested in the MIDI functionality of the device and the ability to control pan/faders from a MIDI note.
However, I do want to showcase the device as a MIDI controller/effector.
The setup
The setup consists of two devices. These are:
· A MIDI controller that is used as a “simple” MIDI effector (device name: SPDIF Controller)
· The Roland SP-404 that is used to create a MIDI note via patch 1
How to use the MIDI Controller
To set up this patch (patch 1), you’ll need to enable “Effects” and “Triggers” on the “Setup” page of the SPDIF Controller. Then you need to set up your MIDI Effect. I’ve set the “Device Settings” to “all” in the “Effect Settings” box. I’ve also set the MIDI channel to the number 1.
To the right you can select the “Instruments” you want to assign to the “Effect Settings”. I’m using the “CHORUS” instrument for this example.
The setup is done. Let’s now see how to control our MIDI Effect. We will be using “Arp” as a MIDI instrument.
