From any of the image windows, you can choose which Interface to use by clicking on the toolbar and choosing your preference. Figure 1 shows the three buttons you can choose from.

The Basic Interface is the easiest for image retouching. It gives you access to many of Photoshop Elements’ editing tools and provides a few helpful tools to help you easily retouch the images in your albums. You can click an image to preview it with a set of image-editing tools. As you edit, the image is highlighted and you can use the tool to rotate, move, copy, and paste images around. You can also use the Paintbrush to paint on the image, and use the Clone and Healing brush to create and remove objects.
To select a tool, click it on the tool bar, or you can hold down the Ctrl key and click on the tool.
