i used the divideimage() method to slice up this larger image into the size that i needed. when an error was encountered while slicing the image i would try again with the next size and continue this process until all slices were successful. if some slices failed due to an invalid data type for a certain field, i would get the error message on the console instead of having the ability to go back and try the process again.

important: your computer’s firmware may not support slicing an iso image. if this is the case your computer will likely have the functionality to create a filesystem directly with the functions provided by iso format.

the last project i created was the image editing portion of the solution. instead of having to open the optical drive to edit the image, i had the ability to edit the images on the fly directly from the visual studio ide. the user can select an image and then select options such as image modification, and the image is redrawn using the tools that i created. once the image is redrawn a prompt is generated that allows the user to “burn” or “flip disk” a raw image. if no burn is selected, the new image is simply saved as a raw image, and the path is appended with the extension “r1“.

this project is not worth describing in detail because i can only talk about the options i provided and how they affected the user. so instead, i’ll let the screenshots do the talking. i created a small form with a listview and a splitbutton that was bound to a list of cimage objects. my cimage class is an abstract class that holds the necessary methods and properties, and implements the interfaces that i wrote above. the interface defines the methods that i use to load and process the raw image data from the disc. the data comes from the iso-9660 standard. for this file system, you will need to read the meta-data, which is part of the iso-9660 standard.
